XC Summer Update - Week 11

Darts -
A very brief email this week. I cannot believe we only have one week left of summer training. It has gone by fast - the season will probably do the same thing to us - rush right by. Take every opportunity to enjoy it and learn from it. Please send me your miles from week 11. As we compile the summer total, it is great to see how far you have come and how much you have accomplished. With this week's reported miles, the boys should surpass last year's record. The girls have already broken the old record and now have 2 more weeks to add on to make the record really hard to get in the future.

Here is the important stuff:

This week's schedule:
Monday - 7:00am at the vita course for the final time this summer. If you have not been coming all summer and would like to make a fresh start with us - Monday morning would be the time to come. We may even have a little treat for you.
Tuesday - 7:30pm - Meet at the track. We are going to be doing 400m repeats. This workout should be a lot of fun. I am finally going to let you run a little faster. If you have to come late because of mutual - we should be there until after 9:00pm. Try not to eat right before you come to the workout. Stay hydrated all day.
Thursday - 7:00am - Meet at Barnes Park on the Northeast side. We will be doing a workout on the Dart Challenge Course.
Saturday - 7:00am - Meet at Barnes Park for the DART CHALLENGE (which starts at 8:00am). I want you there at 7:00 so that we can get through the registration and so that you can get a good TEAM warm up before the race. Please bring your registration on Monday, Tuesday, or Thursday so that I can make as many race numbers as possible before the actual morning of the race. The registration flier is attached to this email.
* If you are trying to get a high week in mileage, I would recommend a morning run Tuesday before our intervals, possibly 2 medium runs on Wednesday, and extra running after the race on Saturday.

Eligibility:
As I have been stressing, we need to get the eligibility in by Tuesday if at all possible. Refer to the email I sent on Thursday and last week for more information. I will have all the papers with me on Monday at the trails. The school office will be open to pay the fee on Monday and Tuesday. Let me know if you or your parents have any questions.

First Week of School:
We will meet everyday in my classroom at 2:45. We will be starting the workouts right as the 9th graders get to the school. Plan on being at practice from 2:45 to about 4:45 daily. Bring your running clothes on the first day. We will have a TEAM meeting for any new people on the 2nd day.

That's all for now -
Coach Talley

I got this from Logan Petty's dyestat account (and I liked it):
"Hey. Don't ever let somebody tell you... You can't do something. Not even me. All right? You got a dream... You gotta protect it. People can't do somethin' themselves, they wanna tell you you can't do it. If you want somethin', go get it. Period. "-- Chris Gardner (Pursuit of Happyness)
