Darts -
First of all - outstanding job at the Murray Invite. As a TEAM we came away with 5 victories and 1 solid 2nd place finish in the 6 races (there were something like 48 total teams in attendance). I heard all kinds of comments about how incredible we are and how "sick" our TEAM is. I also heard a few comments about how people hate us - not because we are mean or arrogant - just because we are so good. I guess it is a compliment in a way. I think as we continue to have success, we need to continue to stay humble, recognize strengths in other teams as well, and never come across as arrogant. Always be careful about what you say about other teams - try not to put down any other teams or runners.
We also had a ton of great individual performances at the meet - Emily Hammond and Jessica Paget finished 1-2 in the rookie girls race we also had Liz Ashby (5th) and Ashley Tyndall (6th) in the top 10. Taylor Goldsberry, Phillip Baker, and Ryan Lee led the way in the boys rookie race, all placing in the top 10. Joanna Boyd and Nalany Resek raced hard and came away with a 5-6 finish to lead us to victory in the JV girls race. We did outstanding in the JV boys race once again - and came away with only 18 points - 2nd place was 209 points behind. Munns pulled away early and held on for the victory, Hedquist came up strong to finish 2nd. The varsity girls were led by a smart race from Shea to pull off the individual win, and a tough race from Meghan to finish 6th. If we take just 5A runners in the race, our top 5 went 1-2-5-10-15. Anna Ward stepped up strong in her opportunity to run varsity. And the varsity boys were led to victory by a diving 2nd place finish by Austin Neuner. Brad Nye ran strong as well to finish 7th. And Logan Wood definitely came through for us as our 5th man (after Brayden was punched in the face and went down early). I thought we ran with a lot of passion. We had some tough performances - let's continue to work hard and improve ourselves physically and mentally. Davis Results are listed below, full results can be found on www.runnercard.com

Wasatch 100 - I had the opportunity to pace Jason Thomas through the final 25 miles of his 100 mile race this past weekend. Jason was the 3rd youngest runner to ever complete the race in its 31 year history, and the youngest participant in this year's race by 7 years. He finished with a time of 34:57.16. That's right - Jason was out running up and down mountains for just under 35 hours. It is one of the most challenging things anyone can go through - and Jason completed it like a pro. It was an extremely difficult ordeal, but Jason was positive, patient, and definitely determined to show he could do it. I feel lucky and honored to have paced him. I learned a lot from Jason through the experience. He showed so much persistence and toughness. I just hope I can take what I learned from him and apply it to my next 100 mile challenge. I also hope I can eat like Jason did - he was pounding down everything: eggs, pancakes, sausage, m&ms, cliff bars, potatoes, hashbrowns, soup, fruit, chex mix, power gels, gatorade, coke, water, and everything else I handed him. I think he took in more calories in that last 25 miles than I did in the 178 miles of Wasatch I have completed. What a huge stud, and what a great young man. Congrats Jason!
